IMPORTANT: NORFOLK BROADS CLOSE SEASON RULES

Please note: Because the Norfolk Broads is an interconnected river system, statutory Environment Agency laws apply strictly to all waterways. Please review these essential guidelines before planning your sessions:

  • The Closed Season (15 March – 15 June Inclusive): Coarse fishing is completely prohibited on all broads and rivers between these dates to allow local fish stocks to spawn safely.

  • The Open Season (16 June – 14 March Inclusive): You can legally fish the waterways during this period.

  • Rod Licencing Laws: All anglers aged 13 and over must hold a valid Environment Agency rod licence. Under 13s fish for free without a licence. Ages 13–16 require a mandatory, free junior licence. Ages 17+ require a standard paid licence.
